Second time I see that response.
The current new, for some motion sickness inducing Jumpgate animation, and I'm included with those who start to feel sick after 2-3 jumps, was there to replace the black screen and/or loading bar from the past.
Quite ironic that to not get sick you have to resort back to a "black screen" = closed eyes?
The new Jumpgate animation looks beautiful, sadly it also makes some of us nauseated. Which is just plain bad design. Can we agree that there needs to be a fix for this? |

This is an amazing effect and it really ties together the systems so that I no longer feed like I'm playing in isolated systems. Everyone now feels connected.
Kudos CCP! +1. I tried it out through highsec before and everything feels so much smoother, and they have killed a lot of loading time for me (granted I play with a high end PC so I don't have graphical lag issues like the OP). To the OP, this animation is the sort of thing that graphically makes sense a lot more than anything to do with WIS. It is a fantastic change. I recommend upgrading your computer, as I would bet a sizable sum that is where the problem lies.
Where can I upgrade my head? Comp is fine, head not when jumping. |

If I where a CCP designer and read something like this:
EdFromHumanResources wrote:Doesn't keeping your starmap open negate the effect entirely?
or this:

wouldn't you start thinking, 'maybe, just maybe something here is wrong?'

You know, Id like to hear from someone who is actually epilectic, here. I havent seen anyone who claim that the animation itself made them unwell, just people saying that "some people would feel unwell". Its so easy to be outraged on someone else' behalf isent it?
Some people are saying that the camera movements cause some dizziness, but thats a totally different thing, if you read up a bit on the tread you will see I allready said they should change that.
Regardless of all this my point still stands, this was on SiSi, it was tested.
Dizziness and feeling unwell after watching the stargate jump animation reporting in. Not saying I'm epileptic or got an attack but it sure as hell isn't enjoyable.

The funny thing is as a kid I got motion sickness when I was in the back of a car. Years later I still do but not when I'm in the front of the car.
So it's not just, agrhwhaahatenewstoofkillitmenolikey but CCP managed to reproduce something that happens to me in the back of a car.
That's quite a feat if you think of it.
I would love a coherent respons from CCP on this beyond the "there's no old gate" troll, if this is either something they are looking into or those complaining about really getting sick are mopped up on the ' K3 whawhawha, QQ and they'll (have to) get used to it" bandwagon.
I didn't just pay for 2 accounts for a whole year to get sick by watching an animation that repeats itself over and over again that I have to sit through. Yeah I can block it by watching stuff on a web browser for example but that defeats the purpose of the animation being there. |

Yokai Mitsuhide wrote:Those of you with motion sickness could simply avert your eyes elsewhere for the 2 seconds the animation runs. Problem solved.
So, because I get motion sick from a badly implemented animation by CCP (yes it looks great!), I have to break the idea of actually flying in EVE (EVE is real after all) every_single_time I'm just about to jump? |

Another, unhelpful faceless alt poasting. Bet they're all of the same troll owner.
PS: time the animation with a stop watch, it takes more then 2 seconds. |

Nery Nebu wrote:Doh i came back to eve with odyssey just because of the lovely new scan and jump animations.
EVE is a GAME and not a Excel Spreadsheet !!!! If you can't stand flashy Game Graphics stop playing games !!! I can't believe that still there are a minority of players who want eve graphics from 2003.
I really hate people who always complain about new things in eve.
Stop complaining or stop playing games, choose wisely !
About EVE not being a spreadsheet. We're talking about the same game here?
I like flashy games! I hate flashies that make me sick tough.
Like you I can't believe the minority of pro-jump players in this thread that still don't get it. Maybe inject some reading skills?
Some of us, esspecially in this thread are not complaining because it's new, again your lack of comprehension shows here, but the awesome, yes it's awesome, star gate animation makes some of us sick and others dislike it because it's very intrusive after more then 3-4 jumps.
So if I get this right, complaining is inherent to playing games? |

Jizzmaster Mckenzie wrote:I only get a mild nausea from the camera jerk (still, why would I play a game that is making me even a little bit sick?). What annoys me the most is all the incessant flashing, movement, and other useless fluff that is unbelievably distracting when I am moving through hostile space. I really don't care about having my camera jerked, about the useless scan animation, about the sensor overlay, about the sensation of being flushed down the drain, and about all the blinking brackets and system name. What I want is a simple acknowledgement that jump started, and then I want to be in the next system, without any visual flourishes. Also, I don't want to be sitting around for 15-20 seconds every time I make the jump. It used to be much shorter.
Oh, that's a very nice description of how I largely feel.
I timed it tough, over here (on a MacPro, ATI Radeon HD 5770) it only takes 8 seconds. Just enough to get me dizzy after 3-4 jumps and like you say it is unbelievably distracting when you're moving through hostile space.
As I wrote before it looks epic, gorgeous even. It's just not suited for a mundane task as jumping. If we where only jumping once every hour or so, then it would be fine. But having this in your face every (+/-) minute is just too much. |

Omo Hubble wrote:The problem is the forced camera swing. In no other circumstance are you forced out of a ship-centered perspective. It's not really sickening as much as agitating and overly dramatic for something so common.
Unfortunately, perspective is crucial in how this animation plays out. So the camera must be swung. I don't see a solution except to allow us to disable the animation. Or they cook up a new animation. :o |

SKINE DMZ wrote:if you get nauseous from a fairly simple animation.. maybe playing games is not the best thing for you
also running a laptop with integrated graphics card.. no problems at all
You know I dug up an old game a few days ago 'chronicles of Riddick' awesome game btw. It almost does the same thing with the camera if you look around, up down, left right etc, the diffrence is, my head anticipates the movement because I AM IN CONTROL. Thing with this animation is it takes your control away and makes really wacky camera jumps depending on your pov before the jump gate takes over. |

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but...
Jump animation is worst than ECM drones! Ahhh I very much agree here! Ccp has over the years made GÇïGÇïchanges which I was also not particularly fond of. But it has been changes I could Adapt to. Gate animation is one we forced to experience and if my opportunity to Adapt is to look out the window, then it's time to take a break from EVE until the problem is resolved properly. For me "properly" = on / off option! Contract your stuff to me then. And don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.
He wrote that he was taking a break, not that he was leaving period. Big difference I think. |

Sadly have to say that even if the animation has been tweaked, I barely undergo any difference.
CCP can't you just remove/change/alter/delete that swoop up animation at the beginning out of the whole?
Or just make 2 animations instead of an on/off switch so people can choose (always good) to pick one: an epic one and a we dun want to puke one.
-> One like its now and -> one that DOES NOT take the camera control out of our hands .
Ship comes to gate, gate activates, slide over tunnel animation WITHOUT changing our camera position, exit tunnel, done + no more puking . |

Send the stuff to me thanks.
EVE certainly gained 5% players with Odyssey. Maybe don't post with made up numbers? |

Yes you do, see your own quote:
Michus Danether wrote: I don't find any discomfort or disorientation when the camera moves to align with the jump gate before initiating the tunnel.
So stop writing falsehoods.
Michus Danether wrote: I definitely don't want to see a step backwards here, I hope this awesome new feature stays the same or enjoys minor tweaks and improvements.
We neither. For all we care the animation swoops you around like a cat caught in a washing machine. All we ask for us who are affected by it in a negative way is an option to turn it off.
Damn, why is this so hard for people? |

Damasa Cloudwalker wrote:My 30 days came and went, no changes to the useless animations, and no additional response from CCP in this thread.
However, I did tweet one of the devs about this, (who's name I will not mention here) and their response was:
"Check the settings on your HTFU console, its not changing, learn to live with it."
Really would love to know who that "special" dev person is. Coming from a dev about a problem that affects peoples well being while playing their game, that's pretty rude, insensitive to say the least. |
